Wrecked C8 Corvette
A few of the Power and Performance crew members went down to the auction to check out a wrecked Viper. We stumbled upon this wrecked C8 Corvette while we were there. This 2020 Vette honestly didn’t look too bad. This was a pretty nice surprise, so we figured we would share! This is likely the first wrecked C8 in greater Cleveland and possibly in the state of Ohio! We would sure love to rip down the driveway in a C8 Vette kart!
LS1 Oil Pan Swap
Today we will be going over how to do an oil pan swap on a LS1 engine. This LS1 is from a 2004 Pontiac GTO and we will be switching the stock oil pan with a 1999-2001 Chevrolet Camaro LS1 oil pan. The reason for this swap is that the GTO oil pan has a front mounted pump and the Camaro pan has a rear mounted pump. This allows the engine to fit better in some custom installs.
To start this oil pan swap you will need to drain all on the oil from your engine. Ours is already out of the car so we hung it in our engine shop to do this job.
Now that the oil has been drained, We will need to remove the dust covers from both sides of the engine and the starter motor as these will be in the way.
Once those are out of the way we can start to unbolt the oil pan and remove the dip stick. Once the pan is unbolted you will want to drop it out and set it to the side.
Now that we have the oil pan out you can see the differences between the GTO oil pan and the Camaro Oil pan.
With the oil pan removed we will then need to removed the baffle and the pick up tube from the bottom of the engine. You will also want to remove the block plug for the new dip stick tube to be installed into that hole.
Now that we have removed all the old parts for this swap you will want to get all the new parts ready to be installed. We also set the old and new parts together so you can see the difference between the two styles.
At this point we can start to install the new baffle and pick up tube. The baffle will be bolted down first and then the pick up tube. These will need to be torqued down to spec.
With those parts installed, we will be sealing the 4 corners of the oil pan near timing cover and rear cover with black silicone. This will add a good seal to the oil pan when installed. At this point we will begin to mount the Camaro oil pan with the new seal on it. You will need to make sure that the pick up tube does not bind when you are bolting the pan on. Once the oil pan is in place you will want to install the new dip stick tube.
With both the pan and dip stick tube installed on the engine the next step is to mount both dust covers and the starter motor. The last step for this swap will be screwing the new oil filter into place. Once those are on, the oil pan swap is complete.

97-04 Chevrolet C5 Corvette Headlight Motor Difference
Today we will be talking about the differences in the Chevrolet C5 Corvette headlight motors. The headlights themselves are direct fits for all 1997-2004 models but the headlight motors are different for the 1997-1999 and 2000-2004 models.
With the head light motors there is not much of a difference between the two interchanges. The 1997-1999 motors are made of plastic for the most part, were as the 2000-2004 style is mostly made of metal.
All of the plugs are the same between the two styles of headlight motors, but the bolt holes for mounting them to the headlight bracket are different. Even though they mount different to the headlight assemblies, the bracket for the headlight it self mounts the same to the car.
So when you are replacing your headlights, you will be fine if you replace your whole headlamp assembly. But if you only need to replace your headlight motor, be careful and make sure it is the same style as the one you need.

Camaro ZL1 Front Brakes vs SS vs V6
The 5th generation Camaro is one of the most common vehicles on the road today. You most likely see one daily or you may even drive one. They are offered in all different trim packages from the V6 RS model, to the V8 SS model, and also the supercharged ZL1 Camaro. What sets all these different Camaros apart though? There are many things that do but one in particular are the brakes offered on each of them.
The supercharged Camaro ZL1 offers the largest of the front brakes and the most stopping power of the three vehicles. The calipers are six piston Brembo brakes. There are two 38 mm pistons, two 34 mm pistons, and two 30 mm pistons which are staggered front to back. To go along with the larger front calipers the ZL1 has two piece rotors which measure in at 14.6″. This makes for a lighter rotor and also less susceptible to warping like the one piece ones offered on non ZL1 models. Below is a photo of both the caliper and rotor from a ZL1 Camaro.
The Camaro SS also features Brembo calipers but unlike the six piston on the ZL1 Camaro the SS has a four piston setup. These pistons measure 40 mm and 44 mm. The SS Camaro features a one piece 14″ rotor. You can see a photo below of the caliper and rotor for the SS model.
The V6 Camaro features of course the smallest of the brake setup between the three vehicles. On the front they have a single piston caliper and a 12.6″ one piece rotor.
The question a lot of people ask is can I upgrade my SS Camaro or V6 Camaro to the Camaro ZL1 front brakes and what does it take to do so? The answer is yes you can and it is a bolt on upgrade for either model. You will need the front ZL1 calipers, rotors, and front dust shields. All components that are included with the upgrade we have available. The only change needed for these to fit on your non ZL1 vehicle are 20″ wheels or greater to clear the calipers. Below you can see the bolt on upgrade put together.

Corvette C6 Donor Vs 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z51 Run & Drive Donor Go Kart / Chassis!
Cleveland Power & Performance is proud to offer the world’s first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Z51 Run & Drive Donor Go Kart / Chassis! Check out more pictures and information, or to buy here:
https://www.clevelandpap.com/2014-z51-6-2l-engine-5k-running-driving-donor/
We’ve sold hundreds of C6 Corvette donor cars over the years, and if you are considering one for your next project, you’ll be surprised and pleased to read all the improvements the 7th generation Corvette has over the 6th, for only a slight increase in price.
Starting with the driveline, the 6.2L LT1 V8 engine is a beast, delivering 460 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque utilizing several advanced technologies, including direct injection, Active Fuel Management and continuously variable valve timing to support an advanced combustion system. The Corvette’s LT1 engine features a structural aluminum six-quart oil pan, and included with our Donor Go Kart, a dry-sump oiling system with a 10.5-quart capacity is included as well.
Other features include an ELECTRIC power steering, which frees up performance and fuel efficiency, oil-spray piston cooling, “four-into-one” short-header exhaust manifold design, and of course, an all aluminum cylinder block.
On the interior, the new leather wrapped seats are styled expertly, very sporty, feel great, and even the passenger received attention as there is a grab handle on the center console. The infotainment navigation system is integrated with all digital speedometer display screen, which can be customized to your liking. Most all surfaces are leather wrapped, and the advanced heads up display shows plenty of data to keep your eyes on the road.
The suspension has been reworked as well. Everything is made of aluminum, including the frame that the upper control arm and shock absorber are bolted into with tie bars. The magnetorheological dampers have an adaptive control system that makes damping adjustments every 10 milliseconds. New to the C7 are adjustable high controls. Twirl all four and you can lower the car. 13.6-inch Ventilated front brake rotors have cooling tricks of their own in the form of surface slots and a spoked hub/rotor interface that looks like a two-piece design, but isn’t. The front calipers are four-piston Brembo units.
If you’re looking for something truly rare, unique, and utilizing the latest technology, then look no further than a Cleveland Power & Performance Running Driving Stingray Corvette Donor Car. It includes everything you need to put into your custom application without getting Nickle and Dimed down the road!
1998 Chevrolet C5 Corvette LS1 Intake Gasket Swap
Today We will be going over how to change the intake gaskets on a LS1 Corvette.
The one shown is specifically a 1998 Chevrolet C5 Corvette.
The first step to this process is to remove the injectors, coil harness, PCV hoses, and the EVAP lines.
From there you will need to removed the 4 bolts holding on the fuel rail. You will also need to take the bolts out from the throttle bottle and remove it.
The next step will be to remove the 10 bolts holding on the intake and lift the intake off of the motor. This is the time that you will also wish to clean the section were the intake sits as there may be some grime and dirt which settled under it.
( make sure the clamp that holds the coolant bypass hose is removed )
From here the intake is off of the engine and you can remove the old seals and foam pads as shown. At this time we suggest that you clean the intake while it is off.
At this point you will want to pull out the new gaskets and pads to install. You want to make sure that all the gaskets as set in right and are flush.
With the gaskets and foam pads installed you will want to set the intake on the engine.
You will want to put lock tight on the bolts before you install them.
Now with all the bolts in place you will want to torque them all down to 44 to start. Once they are all at 44 you will need to re-torque them down to 89 inch pounds.
Now with the intake back, you may want to put a new gasket onto the throttle body while you have it off.
Once that is done you will need to install the throttle body, fuel rail, hoses, and lines that were taken off at the start.
With that the intake is all reinstalled with the new gaskets and torqued to spec.

1997-1999 Chevrolet C5 Corvette Manual Torque Tube 10MM Bushing Swap
Today We will be going over what you need to do to swap your 10mm bushing inside of any 1997 to 1999 manual Chevrolet C5 Corvette torque tube.
First you will need to disassemble the torque tube, to do so just follow these steps.
First you will need to remove the bolts from the rear bell housing at the back of the part. Where the Bolts are located are highlighted in blue.
Once this is done you will need to pull the housing of the torque tube off.
From here you will need to separate the drive shaft from the rear bell housing and the input shaft. There will be three ( 3 ) bolts through the bushing that you can reach.
Once the drive shaft is by itself you can then access the other three (3 ) bolts holding the bushing on.
Now that the torque tube is apart and the bushing is now removed you can begin to install the new bushings.
First you will need to start to bolt on the new bushing on to the drive shaft and input shaft. You can throw away the old bushing at this time as they are no longer needed.
From here the next step will be to torque down the bolts through the bushing to 66.0
Once all the bolts are torqued down you will need to reinstall the drive shaft into the rear bell housing.
Now the final step is to slide the torque tube housing back over the drive shaft and bolt it on to the rear bell housing.
At this point your torque tube is ready to be reinstalled in your Chevrolet C5 Corvette. As always, fell free to email or call us with any questions

2013 C6 Grand Sport fresh water flood full rebuild
Follow this blog to see our 2013 Corvette Grand Sport, that was involved in a light fresh water flood, be fully rebuilt and inspected by the sate of Ohio to eventually be offered for sale.
We received this Grand Sport Corvette after it had been involved in a light fresh water flood. As stated this was a fresh water flood, and the water line was very low and did did not raise higher than a few inches off of the floor pans of the car. We here at Cleveland Power and Performance do not rebuild many flood vehicles, but if they are cars that deserve a second chance on the road we will fix them, and fix them the RIGHT way.
Here are a few photos showing this Grand Sport as we received it.
As you can see from the pictures, the exterior of this car is in excellent shape and it is painted the beautiful “Berlin Blue Metallic”.
As with any flood car that we receive, we rack the car on a lift to drain the fluids to inspect for any water contamination. The engine oil, trans fluid, and differential fluid all showed clean, clear and free of water. The car was then filled with new fresh fluids.
There are some misconceptions when it comes to floods, but if the car is repaired properly a flood car can be rebuilt and driven for countless enjoyable miles. The rebuild process is also much easier when the vehicle is was a fresh water flood as opposed to a salt water flood. A heavy saltwater flood car can be a nightmare. The saltwater can wreak absolute havoc on the electronics of a vehicle. Here is the interior of our fresh water flood next to a picture of a saltwater flooded Vette showing the difference.
Luckily for us and the car, the water level was very low and did not rise above the seat tracks. That means the there was no water contamination in any of the drive line or drive train. Check out this photo showing that the water line was very low, and that the water did not even make it half way up the tunnel.
Here are some pictures showing the interior and underhood the Corvette as we received it. As you can see, the interior did not suffer any major water damage, nor did the engine compartment.
Once we got the Corvette inside the shop and drained all of the fluids, it was time to remove the interior. This allows us to really access any damage caused by the water entering the car and to see what parts were reusable. Unlike some shops, we will strip a flood car down to the bare floor pans to make sure she will be as dry as a bone, after a through disinfection and cleaning of course. Here are some shots of the interior removed from the Vette.
We laid the interior out to allow it to dry completely and continued stripping the car. We now had a chance to see what parts needed to be replaced. The only parts that we were not comfortable reinstalling in this car were the seat motors, front carpet sections and factory radio amplifier. All were swapped out from a non flooded donor Corvette. We also purchased new seat belt pre-tensioners as a safety precaution as the originals get wet in the flood. Here is the interior out and drying.
After stripping the interior, the body harness was removed in order to be soda blasted to insure that it was thoroughly cleaned and that all water was removed. We also used disinfectant cleaner to scrub and clean the floor pans eliminating the chance of any foul smell occurring.
With the interior out, we had the opportunity to replace the seat motors, source a clean carpet and thoroughly clean the body harness. After the floor pan area was nice and dry, it was time for the interior to go back in the vehicle.
The harness, dash components, and carpet were the first parts to be reinstalled in the Vette. Next came the door panels and seats. Everything that went back into this Corvette was extremely clean, and retested for full functionality. This car received just about the most through detailing that a car could get. Here are some shots of the car with the interior fully installed.
This Corvette is now fully reassembled and has had several hundred test miles put on it. She is running like a top and ZERO issues has popped up since she has been buttoned up. She will be offered for sale shortly. Here are some photos showing the finished product of this 2013 C6 Grand Sport fresh water flood full rebuild
We here at Cleveland Power and Performance insist of fixing our vehicles the PROPER way and offering any potential customer a slew of pictures and info on the rebuild process. We have built our reputation on being honest and providing an excellent product.
If you have any questions about this vehicle, or any other vehicle, please do not hesitate to call us at 866-236-5031.
Aluminum or Steel? Whats the Deal?
In our 35 year history here at Cleveland Power & Performance, we have sold and dealt with every single part of Firebirds and Camaros. The 1993-2002 Firebird/Camaro is one the most prevalent vehicles in our yard. So just about every question has come our way when it comes to certain parts of these F-Bodies. Whether it be leather or cloth, stick or auto, painted or chrome wheels, coupe or convertible, you get the point. But just as common as those is when customers ask us if there is any difference between the aluminum and steel driveshafts. The answer is as simple as this:
- Aluminum
- Steel
98-02 LS1 Firebird/Camaro -93-97 LT1 Firebird/Camaro
-Weighs 11.5 lbs -Weighs 20lbs
The length of the driveshafts are the same and they both will physically bolt onto any 1993-2002 Camaro or Firebird. A lot of people will dispute that it matters whether the car is auto or manual, and 5.7 or 3.8 liter, however, these driveshaft will fit any of those. In simpler terms, these two driveshafts are completely interchangeable and will work with any 1993-2002 Camaro or Firebird.
I will say in all of my years here, I have never had someone call me or tell me that they would like to swap their aluminum driveshaft for a steel one. The aluminum one is just as durable, despite the 9.5 pound weight difference, and seems to be the preference. And, obviously, if you are racing your car, and you believe that the less weight you have, the quicker you will go.
So, all in all, that is a basic breakdown in the two driveshafts. Although very similar and interchangeable, aluminum seems to be a fan favorite for the 4th gen F-Body faithful.
Winner: ALUMINUM

2006 Chevy Corvette C6 Automatic Donor
Watch this blog entry to follow a start to finish build on this 2006 Chevy Corvette C6 automatic donor car. When we are finished with this Vette, it will be a fully functional, run and drive go kart which will be the perfect chassis for all sorts of custom builds.
This particular car features an LS2 engine with automatic transmission, black leather interior, complete brake system, fuel system, suspensions and much more. When we build one of our donor cars or “go-karts” we strip away all of the clutter, leaving only the essentials for your build.
Here are some pictures showing what the car looked liked when we received it here in our facility.
We started this build, like we do with nearly all of our Vette donors, by racking it on a lift to see what, if any suspension components need replaced. We spin wheels, check control arms, etc to verify that every part that will be going back on the vehicle is true and straight. If any part needs replaced, we obtain it from our back stock inventory of Corvette parts.
Once we have an inventory on what needs replaced or repaired, we start by removing the body panels. Here are some photos of the Corvette after the first stages of tear-down.
At this point, we inspect the engine and driveline to verify that everything is in good working order. We will also begin to inspect the interior components, power functions.
Please stay tuned to this blog to see the second part of this build, and the conclusion in which wee will offer the completed donor Vette for sale.
If you have any questions on this vehicle, or any of the vehicles we have, please give us a call at 866-236-5031 to discuss.
