5th Generation Chevrolet Camaro Black Out Kit
Today we will be looking at our Black Out Kit for the 5th generation Chevrolet Camaro models.
This black out kit is specifically from a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro.
This kit includes all four of the brake lights with the trim bezels. All of the lights have been tinted to match one another and the bezels have all been painted the same flat black by our professional automotive painters.
Now we will take a look at the marker lights. Each of which as also been tinted to match the rest of our Black Out Kit. We include all 4 of the marker lights the front and rears so that all the running lights on the upgrade will match correctly once installed on to your car.
The last thing that is included in our black out kit is the front grille emblem and the rear bumper emblems. These are included to pull together the whole black out kit with the corresponding flat black paint as to match that of the tail light bezels.
This sums up all that is included with out standard Black Out Kit that we offer. Each Kit is made to order to assure that everything is in good shape for the customer. We are also able to offer Black Out wheels in these Kits for an added priced. Camaro ZL1 Front Brakes vs SS vs V6
The 5th generation Camaro is one of the most common vehicles on the road today. You most likely see one daily or you may even drive one. They are offered in all different trim packages from the V6 RS model, to the V8 SS model, and also the supercharged ZL1 Camaro. What sets all these different Camaros apart though? There are many things that do but one in particular are the brakes offered on each of them.
The supercharged Camaro ZL1 offers the largest of the front brakes and the most stopping power of the three vehicles. The calipers are six piston Brembo brakes. There are two 38 mm pistons, two 34 mm pistons, and two 30 mm pistons which are staggered front to back. To go along with the larger front calipers the ZL1 has two piece rotors which measure in at 14.6″. This makes for a lighter rotor and also less susceptible to warping like the one piece ones offered on non ZL1 models. Below is a photo of both the caliper and rotor from a ZL1 Camaro.
The Camaro SS also features Brembo calipers but unlike the six piston on the ZL1 Camaro the SS has a four piston setup. These pistons measure 40 mm and 44 mm. The SS Camaro features a one piece 14″ rotor. You can see a photo below of the caliper and rotor for the SS model.
The V6 Camaro features of course the smallest of the brake setup between the three vehicles. On the front they have a single piston caliper and a 12.6″ one piece rotor.
The question a lot of people ask is can I upgrade my SS Camaro or V6 Camaro to the Camaro ZL1 front brakes and what does it take to do so? The answer is yes you can and it is a bolt on upgrade for either model. You will need the front ZL1 calipers, rotors, and front dust shields. All components that are included with the upgrade we have available. The only change needed for these to fit on your non ZL1 vehicle are 20″ wheels or greater to clear the calipers. Below you can see the bolt on upgrade put together.

Camaro/Firebird Trac Loc & Non Trac Loc
Many owners of the 98-02 Firebird/Trans Am/Camaros are always looking for all the possible upgrades for their vehicles. Whether it is a bigger motor, bigger brakes, louder exhaust or a TRAC LOC rear axle. In reference to the TRAC LOC rear axle, many owners don’t know the difference, or what the advantage is to a TRAC LOC axle.
The difference in the axle isn’t something that can typically be seen, since the biggest difference is in the gear box. Here is a complete diagram of a true TRAC LOC axle:
One of the main purposes for this type of axle is the TRAC LOC will allow both wheels to continue spinning simultaneously, instead of locking them up when sensed.
Another key component in a TRAC LOC axle is the throttle relaxer that sits under the hood (PICTURED BELOW). The trac loc feature will not work without this part.
To show the difference in the whole axle, here is a picture of an axle WITHOUT TRACTION CONTROL:

As you can see, the axle with the trac control has more wiring for the feature.
From all the pictures above, you can see the main difference in the two main Firebird/Camaro rear axles. Neither one is better or worse than the other, it just all depends on the users preference.
